The Chapel Women's Team

We had a God-blessed Easter Weekend at Chapel, and we'll post some pictures of it soon. In the meantime, here is a picture of the new Chapel Women's Team. We will be going to Lakeshore, Mississippi, to help in whatever way we can - we're headed there April 26th-30th, via a flight to New Orleans.

From left to right, we're Arleen, Debbie, Elisa, Donna-Jean, Maria, and Bethany.

We've joked about this being our last picture with makeup on - but that each woman has editing rights to the Mississippi pictures! Seriously, though, we've met together, prayed and planned together, and we're excited about what God has for us to do in His name. Pastor brought us to the front on Easter Sunday morning for a Prayer of Dedication, and we know our church is behind us in love, prayer, and support.

Thank you for praying for us...

The Weight of the Cross

"The Weight of the Cross"

A multi-sensory musical will be presented at Chapel on the Hill tonight at 8 p.m. Chapel's 30-voice Chorale, along with images, drama, and poetry, will focus on the sights and sounds of the cross.

"The weight of the cross was the weight of my sin...not the weight of the tree that was carried by Him..."

Once Upon a Golden Time...

It's a great story line.

Boy meets Girl. Boy gets Girl. Boy and Girl still love each other - 50 married years later.

Pastor and Lois just recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Such a milestone requires a time of rejoicing - so at Chapel on the Hill, we surprised them with our love, expressed in several ways. We gave Lois a recreation of her wedding bouquet (which was on top of the Bible she carried on her wedding day),

we had a church-family luncheon together, we displayed several wedding items including Lois' wedding gown and her sisters' bridesmaid dresses, and we showed pictures from the wedding and their 50 years together.

We also listened to a recording of Pastor and Lois saying their vows to each other - with the voice of Pastor's father, Dr. Charles Anderson, as he spoke to them.

Their married life and ministry is an inspiration and an anchor to the Chapel church family.

Their wedding invitation, along with an anniversary greeting from the White House.

Lois' pure lace wedding gown, as well as her sisters' gowns, were on display.

Pastor usually does the speaking, but at the luncheon, Lois took the microphone to thank everyone for a very special day.

The Chapel Lamp Post

Recently, Chapel on the Hill opened the doors to its first "Chapel Lamp Post" coffeehouse. Our theme was C.S.Lewis' "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe."

The decorations were set. Guests walked through the wardrobe and saw the Lamp Post, with its snow and brown packages. A few of us even wore fur coats, in the spirit of the evening! Part of the large room was designed to look like the frozen river in the Narnia movie, so that the kids who came could rollerblade under the disco ball. The Discoverers Sunday School classroom was set up like Aslan's tent, and inside it were two Play Stations, set up with Narnia games.

Food was in abundance, and of course, we served Turkish Delight. Our lounge area was made up like the Beaver's Dam,

and the adults relaxed and enjoyed wonderful fellowship.

Then the Salt and Light Band played and sang,

and Pastor Bill shared some important truths from God's Word with us all.

Narnia, Part Two: Saturday, April 8th, at 6:15 p.m., the Chapel Lamp Post will show the newly released movie, "Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." Looking forward to another great night...
